Program Description
Erin Ley is the author of the character-building children's series, Maggie the Magnificent, as well as the young adult/adult cancer survivor memoir/self-help book entitled The Will to Live. As a result of her having two school age children with severe and life threatening peanut allergies, through story telling and interaction with the students, Erin helps both students and faculty educate themselves to safely interact with students with severe and life threatening food allergies of any kind, while in school or anywhere else. Food allergies are growing at epidemic proportions. The physical and psychological impact is discussed at an age-appropriate level. In addition, Erin is a member of the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN). Paper and writing/coloring utensils are used during activity time. Erin will donate copies of her books to the school's library prior to arriving, and 10% of book sales will be donated back to the school. One grade maximum per presentation.
